The Gibson Legacy - "The Community That Flowers Built"

The Story of Gibson Gardens - An independent Retirement Community
For the thousands of people who visited the Gibson Nursery in its 61-year history, getting to know the Gibson Family was an added benefit to shopping at "the place for flowers" in Tacoma.

When Dave and Donna Gibson knew it was time to close the business that his father started in 1938, they knew that giving back to the community one more time was important.

Gibson Gardens, a community for active adults, was designed and planned. The community encourages people 55 and better to live an independent lifestyle and choose the amenities they want, when they want them.

The Gibson family remains active in the flower business, selling wholesale flowers to retail chains in the region. They never forgot to leave plenty of fresh flowers at the entrance to Gibson Gardens each morning so the many current and new residents can always be reminded that Gibson Gardens is the house that flowers built.

"At the continental breakfast there is always laughter and visiting with other residents. It's turned into a nice community just like Dave Gibson wanted". Robert McMichael, resident
